How to Create a Free Website to WordPress

WordPress is a content management system most often used to create blogs online. However, WordPress also provides a way to develop static pages, similar to website pages. By tweaking your WordPress, you can use the platform to create a website instead of a blog. This allows you to develop a website while still using all of the same tools provided with the WordPress content management system. If you are familiar with creating blogs in WordPress, you will be able to create a website in a similar way.

Step 1 :Go to www.wordpress.com. Click on the orange "Sign up now" button on the left corner of the screen.

Step 2 :Enter your name and email address. Check the box stating that you agree with the terms of service and proceed to the next page.

Step 3 : Create a domain name. This is the name that people will type into their address bar when they want to visit your blog. Make it something short and easy to remember. Fill out the rest of the page and proceed to the next step.

Step 4 :Open the email that you provided when you signed up and check your inbox. You should have a confirmation email from Wordpress. Open the email and click the link that allows you to confirm your blog.

Step 5 : Enter your username and password to enter the admin page for your website. Begin by clicking on the "Posts" icon on the left sidebar.

Step 6 :Click "Create new post" on the posts page. A blank box and a title box will appear on the screen. Create your first blog entry. Type your message and use the tools above the blank box to insert pictures, video or links to other websites.

Step 7 :Click on the "Appearance" tab on the left sidebar. Check the "Themes" option when it appears. Choose a color scheme or theme for your blog.

Step 8 :Sign out of your blog. When you are ready to create more entries, enter your domain name followed by a period and then wordpress.com/admin. For example if you want your blog to be called smartblogger.com, you would enter smartblogger.wordpress.com/admin in your browser's search bar to return to your page and create more posts.

Congrats! You have now created your first blog.
